Isabel, Leyte

Isabel is a 1st class municipality in the province of Leyte, Philippines. According to the 2000 census, it has a population of 38,486 people in 8,303 households.
Isabel is the most industrialized town in Eastern Visayas, being the site of Leyte Industrial Development Estates (LIDE). Some of the companies located here are the Philippine Phosphate (PHILPHOS) Fertilizer Corp., Philippine Associated Smelting and Refining (PASAR) Corp., and Lepanto Mining Corp. It is also the home of LIDE Learning Center (LLCI), a prestigious constitution, which had gained its popularity to its neighbors like Ormoc, Palompon, Baybay and also in Cebu. It has earned its monicker as "Saudisabel" because of the high availability of jobs.
